Family therapy

Family therapy looks to help members of a family understand each other better, change negative behaviours and resolve conflicts. We are all unique and have different perspectives and when you throw family dynamics into the mix, relationships can become fraught. Family life events can feel stressful, from mental health problems to getting married. Things can become overwhelming and family members can find it difficult to move out old, unhelpful patterns of behaviour.

Family therapy gives families the chance to express and explore their feelings in a safe, non- judgemental environment and explore difficulties and differences in their relationships, with the aim of improving communication. We will find a way forward together.

I use an inclusive approach which considers every member of the family.I will invite engagement and be sensitive to the diverse nature of family relationships, forms, beliefs and cultures. I will often not work with the entire family- it can be children, couples, parent and child or individuals.
